Documentation in advance
Organisations frequently need to review a Certificate of Analysis before a purchase is approved rather than after it arrives. COAs can be supplied ahead of dispatch for the batch that would ship.
Batch consistency across orders
Where a research programme runs over months, changing batch mid-study introduces a variable that is difficult to unpick later. Where a single batch can cover a known requirement, reserving against it removes that variable.
Where it cannot, knowing in advance that a batch change is coming is more useful than discovering it from a certificate afterwards.
Ordering
Institutional and repeat-volume requirements are quoted directly rather than through the standard catalogue flow, because they usually involve batch reservation, documentation timing and delivery arrangements that a checkout cannot express.
